Alanis Morrissette

Isn't It Sophmor-ic?

Review by HI-FI LUC

Welcome back, Alanis Morrissette. How has she been
since we were last told that we "oughta know"? From the
sound of "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie", Alanis'
follow-up album, to her first, ultra-successful album,
"Jagged Little Pill", she has been well. Everyone is putting
a lot of pressure on and scrutinizing the new album. They
should just listen to it. It's not identical to "Jagged Little
Pill", and in that lies the treat. After Alanis being absent for
so long, I didn't want another "Jagged Pill". Thanks, but I
already have it and enjoy it a great deal. Rather than give
us "Pill Part Deux", Alanis decided to give us an album
that seems to be both a bit daring and intimate for her.
Although it never quite succeeds in matching the level of
"Pill", I understand. To match or surpass her last albulm
would be quite a feat. That's the biggest problem of this
album is that because of the success of the previous
album some believe that it now must be judged by the bar
raised by the first's level of success. "Junkie" is a good
album. I like it. If you want to hear "Jagged Little Pill"
again, go out and buy another copy. If you want a new CD
from the talented Morrissette, pick up "Supposed Former
Infatuation Junkie" and enjoy.
