This embodies the 80’s to a nutshell. A talented singer getting screwed by her generation. The back beats and general style just sickens me. If she was in a different decade, I think that she would be great.

There are many compilations of this fine soul singers work but this 12 song collection from the mid 60's through the early 70's is just stunning. Whether loud or soft, Aretha's deliver accentuates the emotions felt throughout each song. The instrumental backing is very appropriate as it supports Aretha without competing for the spotlight. An excellent sampling of soul music.
