Barenaked Ladies

Rock Spectacle: 45

This is a lame and highly overrated concert. People seem to be cheering over nothing. It just doesn't make any sense to me. When I listen to them, I think of lame people sitting around and listening to that bloody "If I Had a Million Dollars". I think that this music is for the pathetic listeners out there. They become irritating and repetative which I think makes them really bad. Hearing one of their songs everyonce in a while is good, but packing it into one disc doesn't seem reasonable. They play light, acoustic stuff, which doesn't seem to make that click in my head. I don't like them, and not very many people do either in Canada, their hometown.

Stunt

Stunt is an album that fascinates me. By simply creating a solid selection rock/pop that has already been done, people love them for it. It seems to make guys and gals alike happy and I think that's the greatest asset of this band. Their main distinguishing quality is that their lyrics are intelligent, unlike most idiots in rock today. The songs matter to people because they actually mean something. When I listened to the c.d., I found nothing particularly exciting about their music. It didn't do anything for me emotionally and the radio shoved it down my throat. I've had an overdose of this band and I'll never like them, but I understand why people on the lighter side of music would enjoy this disc. By the way, I heard that they put on a great live performance.
