Parallel Lines 86
Some real hip grooves on this recording. And I'm not talking about the
lines that separate the tracks either. Some super cool drumming,
pulsating bass, colorful keyboard sounds and two grinding guitars make a
nice backdrop for Deborah Harry's vocal style whether she sings soft and
sultry or loud and raucous. This album really flows very well as each
song varies in style to keep you hooked on the grooving rhythms and beats
and special effects that was produced by these New Wave pioneers. Yes,
this is the album with the disco smash Heart Of Glass. However, many of
the other tracks are quite ear catching, foot tapping, and body shaking.
So groove on down to your music store and you'll find the price for this
near classic is very nice.
Eat To The Beat 80
Only a weak finish keeps this record a tad below its predecessor. The
band even explores some new rhythms and sounds on this admirable effort.
Again the drumming is very mesmerizing and the band proves that the
whole is better than the sum of this parts. Another worthwhile
purchase.
