Red Hot Chili Peppers

Mother's Milk: 50

I've come to enjoy this band's energy, and knack for putting out some decent songs on the radio, so I tried one of their records. I was really disappointed. It had the same energy, but less musical merit. When I think of the album, I think of a bunch of crazy guys running around and yelling into the microphone. It's obvious that they had fun, but I didn't quite have the same experience. They had their one single in here which was cool, but the other stuff can only be used as background music, not entertainment. It's alright if you're not listening to it as entertainment, but who wants a c.d. like that. If any Red Hot Chili Peppers fan reads this, go into my guestbook and recommend some good discs that they have made. I love them as a band, but not for this album.

What Hits!?: 50

As usual there is a lot of yelling, and I can imagine them jumping around flinging their hair around the studio. Flea just rocks with the bass licks. I only found about 6 songs out of 18 which I can actually bear to listen to, and out of those the best song was the remake of Jimi Hendrix's "Fire". Catholic school girls was one of the funniest songs that I've heard in a long time. Overall this disc is for the hardcore fans, but not for anyone else who isn't obbessed with the Chili Peppers.

10 Best Series: Greatest Hits: 45

This was one of the lamest greatest hits c.ds that I've ever listened to. Most of the songs weren't even great, and some were horrible, reaching to a count of 5 out of 10 tracks. Hmmmm. 5 out of 10 were bad in a greatest hits c.d. That is pathetic. I've also noticed that the lyrics are totally stupid and mindless, but it's all about having fun, not making a statement.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik: 74

As usual the Chili Peppers have crammed 18 songs into this disc. Luckly, this was a really strong c.d. Although I had to skip a few, most of the c.d. was more than listenable. It was entertaining, as they experimented more. I've noticed that the Chili Peppers either create an amazing song, or a crappy one. They can't screen out the bad songs, and I think this is the biggest downfall of the band. Sometimes they click and it's magical, and other times they suck. I think that the Chili Peppers are more about a scene than the music. Have you ever seen one of their concerts? I've seen a few on t.v. and I can't wait till they come to town, because I'm going no matter what. Why, because they put on an awesome concert. Sometimes I think they are crazy, but they simply love their music. They have some cool concert tricks up their sleeves, as it's not like most concerts where you do more people watching than band watching. They keep the audience captivated, and if they start touring, you'd better get off of your computer and do something useful.
