Deep Purple:

Machine Head 86

No Holds Barred Rock N Roll from this fine British quintet. Easily the biggest commercial release mostly on the strength of the super single Smoke On The Water. However, the other six songs are very comparable. Lazy is the number that really blows me away with some spooky organ solos and effects. Ritchie Blackmore delivers some stunning guitar solos most particularly on Highway Star. Ian Gillian proves to be the ultimate heavy metal singer with a variety of vocal effects on this excellent record.

Perfect Strangers 71 I'll say this. Deep Purple comprises their style for no one. Reuniting with the lineup that produced the Machine Head album, Deep Purple delivers more in your face rock n roll with more blistering guitar and organ sounds for your listening ear. Whereas, the songs on this album are not as good as Machine Head they stand fairly tall especially next to the retro garbage that was starting to come out during the dissappointing 1980's. A little variety from the slam bam thank you mam routine might have helped but this is a decent record which you should be able to find at a nice price!
