Matthew Sweet

100% Fun: 68

This is a soulful and fun disc. It's good quality music that you can sit down and listen to as entertainment. It's poppy, but for once tolerable, as his voice reminds me of R.E.M, but it's more interesting. He varies his melodies more than R.E.M, and his backup consists of an acoustic guitar or a light electric sound. This creates some interesting variation. There is one good guitar solo, which seems to be harder to come by as the years go on. Overall it's not an essential, but it's a good c.d. There are a lot of other discs that I would recommend before this one, but Matthew Sweet has put out a decent c.d., that's worthy of the c.d. prices of today.
