U2 - MOFO REMIXES

Ok, first things first: this CD actually came out sometime in the latter part of '97, however it was only released in England. I only found it here in California as an import in (of all places) the single section of the Napa Wherehouse. The Mofo Remixes is a single consisting of three tracks: Mofo (Phunk Phorce Mix), Mofo (Mother's Mix) and If God Will Send His Angels (The Grand Jury Mix). The Phunk Phorce mix is a straightforeward dance version of Mofo. What makes it unique are the added lyrics by Bono. It almost sounds like a live recording of the song was remixed. Any Roni Size fan will appreciate the Mother's mix. Size's trademark drum trippery and studio wizardry are present on his almost nine minute version of Mofo, in which Bono is only allowed a few words here and there. Size's re-arranging of Bono's words works well when it sounds as if he is actually stuttering the lyrics and not so well when it is just a repeated sound over and over again. Ironically, the best song in my opinion on the Mofo Remixes CD is the Grand Jury mix of If God Will Send His Angels. The Grand Jury mix is definitely a different take on the album song. It's much harder, more danceable, and very, very good. So, U2 fans, if you live in England, pick up the Mofo Remixes, if not I suggest searching the import section of your local music store. Check it out if you can find it.
