Especially For You 78
Probably one of the better bands to come out of the 1980's. The blend
between new wave and some influences from the 1950's give this album a
fairly fresh sound. Well at least for starters. There are some
interesting keyboard and acoustic sounds for diversity but somehow
when the album is finished there seems to be something missing.
However, there is a decent blend of cheerful and dark songs. The
clever chord changes and some noteworthy lyrics make this the best
effort by this band.
Green Thoughts 67
More of the same style from this New York area band except there is
even less variety than the first record. The tunes seem more minor
sounding and not in a very good way. What was once fresh on the first
record seems a bit stale now. There are even a couple of moments when
its hard to differentiate one song from the next. The raw sound is
good but artistic growth is definitely needed.
Blow Up 74
Almost a return to form on this band's fourth release. There are some
creative moments here with the use of the keyboards and strings.
However, the band seems in dire need of a style change on this fourth
go round. Now and then(gee I gave away one of the song titles) its a
worthy listen!(Glenn J. Wiener)
