Mr. Fantasy 77
A nice debut album by this supergroup. The band definitely sounds very
original on this record with the use of the flute, sitar, and percussion
sounds. The songs lack some development as compared with their later
work. The basic structure is there but a little more substance(deeper
lyrics, more varied solos, alternate melody), is not consistently
displayed. None the less there are enough good songs to make this a
worthwhile investment.
John Barley Corn Must Die 93
Now if only the present Steve Windwood could look back on this recording
he made with Jim Capaldi and the late Chris Wood. This is what good
music is all about. Natural sounds and pulsating rhythms exist
everywhere and the special touches from Chris Wood on flute and
saxophone really standout. The first side of this just might be the
blue print of a Perfect Album side. Afficinodos of rock and jazz
instrumental interplay should snatch this record up as this is a real
treat for the ears.
Low Spark Of Hi Heeeled Boys 90
This one is almost as good as its predecessor. Again only six songs but
oh what snappy rhythms. The band expanded by adding an extra percussion
player. The lyrics are very thought provoking here as there seems to be
much depth in the song-writing. Its a shame there isn't more music out
there today like this today.
