Winter Garden

Winter Garden: 70

Welcome to the world of winter. The singer has a chilling, strong, rough, and beautiful voice. Her voice uses some grit, and this is unusually interesting for a female. I think that her voice could easily be compared in style to Melissa Etheridge. A raw quality that reflects emotions such as frusteration, pain, and beauty. The singing is backed by an acoustical guitar setup, probally two guitars. Vocals dominate the disc, and melody is explored solely through the voice. It's a great listen, although I think that it's more of an occasional listen for myself. I can see some people really latching onto the band because it can be catching. I found that I could listen to the first four songs at one time, then the next four, and so on. It's an interesting product, and is just above an average album. It can be used for specific moods, but it is best listened for background music while doing things around the house. A bit repetative, but overall a strong effort for a band that deserves more attention. They definitly have something to offer for many age groups, and that in itself is commendable. Don't get Etheridge's new album, but this one. It's better quality, and is a more rounded album. Check out Winter Garden, an up and coming band. We're coming up with a lot of garden names lately for bands (Savage Garden). Hmmmmm.
