Wiseblood
Hey, here's something you won't hear on MTV or radio. Once again, the hard rock scene has been
pushed underground. Although Guns N' Roses and Metallica opened some doors, Poison (and a number
of other really bad quasi-metal acts) and (new) Metallica closed them. Well, Corrosion of Conformity is
knockin'.
These guys are one of the most under-rated hard rock bands. Their edgy Sabbath meets Rollins sound is
in full effect on their latest release, Wiseblood. The album is basically fueled by one rockin' song after
another. As with their last album, Deliverance, Wiseblood is produced by John Custer and sounds very
sharp. Pepper Keenan's raspy vocals and powerful guitar are the basis of the COC sound on Wiseblood.
If you're lookin' for some outstanding and straight-forward hard-edged rock (especially on the song "King
of the Rotten"), Wiseblood is for you. - Bill Gunsmith
